APOLOGIES:  Wendy Ward, Alison Simkin, Lisa Duncombe, Katie Clune, Cath Tan

ATTENDEES:  Chantal Crinquand, Cath Dalle, Julie Myers, Jody Rooney, Judy Minisale, Rebecca Bailey, Suzanne Ottersen, Deb Musio, Susan Demsey

PRESIDENTS REPORT:

  • In April 2019 we officially became Geraldton Yoga Club inc. a not for profit association

  • We had several events to encourage membership such as: a raffle, Sausage Sizzle, Yoga workshops such as Sun Salutation Breakdown and Yoga Nidra.

  • CGG continue to sponsor the Wednesday Sunset Yoga along with Rio Tinto and will be ongoing at this stage

  • The community has welcomed and embraced the Geraldton Yoga Club with a total of 265 members for 2019

  • We offer our yogi’s information about teacher member timetables to encourage them to further their practice and seek out individual yoga teachers

  • Membership has increased from $20 - $30 and we still believe it is great value

  • We continue to maintain a close working relationship with the CGG with events such as the Health & Wellness day at the Rocks Laneway and Christmas on the terrace

  • Australia Day isn’t as well received hence we did not proceed with an event on this date this year

  • Xmas on the Terrace was well received and had a lot of new sign ups and enquiries.

MATTERS ARISING:

  • Due to the outbreak of Covid 19 , this meant we had to change the way we delivered our classes, going from outside to online live.

  • CGG share our videos on their page and other pages (and individuals) have taken them on board. This gives us great exposure and a broad reach to the Geraldton community

  • CGG has invited GYC to do a regular short  series of Yoga video tutorials  on a Thursday morning at 10.30am showcasing poses/ breakdowns

  • Jody Rooney brought up using a disclaimer for our FB live stream and CGGTV which is a great idea – we are looking at sourcing a disclaimer through Yoga Australia and adapting it to suit all future online lives

  • Chantal will also look into a disclaimer with the CGG TV to keep it all consistent

  • Julie suggested we could also pin the disclaimer to our FB page so it is prominent and one of the first things our viewers will see

  • Sunset/Sunrise Yoga will resume when Stage 3 Government Guidelines are delivered released. We will wait to see what they are before making decisions.

  • QEII will also need to be addressed as per spacing requirements once Stage 3 Government Guidelines are released.

  • Current 20/21 memberships/renewals will be actively promoted again once we resume face-to-face classes.

SATURDAY SUNRISE YOGA:

  • Has not recommenced since Covid 19, with the exception of Julie presenting a live-stream Easter Saturday class.

  • It was brought up that seeking donations and sponsorship for the Club is difficult. Fundraising is time consuming and hard work – so a suggestion was made we take a vote to bring in a gold coin donation for the Saturday class which would be completely optional to our yogi’s.

  • Judy’s views are the Saturday morning class could possibly be taking potential business from other teachers’ classes and that putting in time to fundraise etc was not something she was keen on.

  • After discussion it was decided a vote was needed with all the teachers who are currently paid members as to whether Yes we keep the Saturday morning on a gold coin donation or No we discontinue the class entirely.

  • GYC memberships/renewals plus coin donations would cover both the Saturday teacher payment and the Wednesday assist teacher payment.

  • Chantal will send an email for voting this week and a secret vote is an option.

  • The outcome of this vote will be announced on our Facebook page.
