2. President’s report
• The Geraldton Yoga Club is in our 7th year - currently 13 Yoga teachers on
board and 94+ members.
• Geraldton Yoga Club memberships are vital to maintain the momentum of
the club. Thank you to our members who support the club.
• In 2023, we (again) promoted our GYC at the ‘Festival of Lights’ and
‘Harmony Festival’ by presenting Yoga demos which were well received.
Thank you to our teachers and participant Yogis who took part.
• The 2 Yoga workshops presented last year were also well received and
attended.
• Our twice weekly Yoga classes at the ‘Step Up Step Down’ Mental Health
service have continued in the past year, making this our 4th year with them.
Thank you, Tamara who delivers this program.
• Our yoga teachers have delivered Yoga classes, meditation, and breathing
classes at various workplaces, schools, and events throughout the year.
• Our 2023 International Yoga Day celebrations were a great success with
160+ attendees at the QEII Centre for the event co-hosted by the Midwest
Indian Cultural Society.
• A big thank you to our 2023 sponsors for their generosity and ongoing
support into 2024 - Signworks, Flow Eat Beautiful, Spruce Juice, Quiet Life,
Indah Day Spa, Remi French Street Food; and all the Geraldton Yoga Club
teachers for their ongoing support and dedication; and to all GYC members.
3. Matters arising
2024 year.
• Our GYC Bylaws have been reviewed and amended to reflect our current• Our 2024 GYC (free) Member Workshops are planned for April and October.
• 2024 International Yoga Day - Planning for this event is underway,
scheduled for Sunday 23rd June, again in collaboration with the Midwest
Indian Cultural Society.
• We are grateful for the City of Greater Geraldton’s continued support for
Wednesday’s Sunset Yoga classes.
• 2024 will be a challenging year moving forward as the CGG will be charging
us $100 hall hire for the QEII Saturday classes during the Winter and cooler
months. This is a 6-month period (25 classes = $2,500).
This will impact the GYC significantly - Please bear with us while we navigate
our way forward and determine how this may impact our Saturday
participants.
4. Treasurer’s report
• Treasurer, Denise Hackland reported that the GYC is currently financially
stable and secure with funding from current sponsors and club members.
• Julie added that the full financial statement will be uploaded to our website
for public viewing.
5. Nomination and appointment of Club’s 2024 board members
• President, Chantal Bachere Crinquand
• Vice President, Julie Myers
• Secretary, Amber Jackson
• Treasurer, Denise Hackland
• Board Member, Suzanne Ottersen
• Board Member, Katie Clune
• Board Member, Shelley Brown
6. Other business/ member comments
• GYC community members suggested that the annual GYC Membership fee
be increased to $50.00 per year, to help cover the costs of having to pay for
the hall on Saturdays and as the current fee of $30.00 is considered too low
given the value of the membership and the number of free classes the club
provides throughout the year.
Julie added member comments at last year’s AGM put forward the same
suggestion; and with 26 Saturday classes per year, an increased fee of
$50.00 is a worthy consideration.
• There were no other comments/items.
7. Thank you, Teachers and participants, for your attendance.
Meeting closed at 9:15am.
